We just completed the Butte Fault Route backpacking 80 miles through the Grand Canyon, mostly off trail. My husband was hesitant about me wearing these boots. He even had repair stuff along. Well, they came through famously- not even a frayed seam!
I'm planning to start the Appalachian Trail with these very same boots in February 2013!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These shoes can protect my feet perfectly well when I hike, my feet didn't feel tired at all during and after a 5hr hiking! And they also look very nice, don't look bulky at all! I am a happy customer for this pair of shoes!
